A quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis of schooling in an F2 intercross between strongly schooling marine and weakly schooling benthic sticklebacks (Gasterosteus aculeatus) finds that distinct genetic modules control different aspects of schooling behavior, tendency to school and body position when schooling.
