Shared patterns of protein sequence evolution are predictive of functional interactions in the network of proteins that control fertility and femalepost-mating behavior in the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. Furthermore, steps in the network at which several newly identified proteins in the network act are consistent with their strongest evolutionary correlations.
